Speech Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Speech Therapist will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients demonstrating a need for swallowing or speech-language intervention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to:

  • Complete comprehensive assessment to determine the patient’s level of function in areas including speech-language, cognition and swallowing

  • Establish and carry out patient individualized treatment plans upon completion of comprehensive assessment

  • Assess, record and report patient’s status and progress to the physician, patient representative(s) and health care team and maintain adequate records on all patients, including summary reports

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings

  • Submit clear and accurate documentation according to company policy

  • Assist the physician in assessing the patient’s level of functioning and the development and revising as necessary of the plan of care by applying appropriate tests for speech, hearing, and language disorders

  • Assess the patient’s communication, oral-motor integrity, cognitive status, memory and problem-solving activities, hearing of speech fluency and quality

  • Initiate preventive and rehabilitative procedures as appropriate to the patient’s care and safety

  • Teach, supervise and counsel patient and family regarding home technique

  • Must be willing to travel to other office locations to assist with staffing if needed

  • Comply with state and federal regulations

  • Access, monitor, document and report progress of the patient’s health and condition using required documents, reports or timelines per company policy

Required Skills:

  • Work requires advance knowledge of the Homecare Industry, Medicare Regulations, CMS, and other State/Federal regulatory changes

Required Work Experience:

  • One (1) year experience as a Speech Therapist preferred

  • Home Health experience preferred

Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:

  • Must have a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association

  • Current CPR Certification

  • Current Speech Pathologist License

Other Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work

  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours

  • Travel required

  • Current State Driver’s License

  • Current auto liability insurance according to company policy
